Coaches Message
Our programs work well in
providing the quickest method of learning, while giving a
complete understanding of Fencing. While everyone is encouraged to consider
becoming a competitive fencer at some point, our organization’s focus remains on
understanding and enjoyment, through detailed and complete instruction. Some of
our members will choose to be competitive fencers, while some remain
recreational fencers; and the skills learned by everyone allow them to do well
at local competitions. Our
in-house Fencing League and other programs provide a fun format for internal
competition, and also provides a much needed interim step before the outside
world of competition. These program formats are unique within the Fencing world.
For 18 years the Westside Fencing Center in Los Angeles was the key facility for
Fencing in Southern California, and their recent closing is a major loss to USA.
A number of current Olympic Team Members received much of instruction there
throughout the years. The majority of training I received was at this wonderful
organization with it’s founder, M. Ted Katzoff . He has been instrumental in
working
with us in our programs over the years. It required a drive, in rush hour, of nearly two and a half hours each way from
the Inland Empire to reach the Center.
While the
organization started in Redlands years ago, after YEARS of being located there
it still couldn't pay its own bills and was moved to Riverside...where it has
grown into the fine group it is today. The website address remains the same as
before due to the number of pre-existing links to it on the internet.
We have always brought Fencing TO the Inland Empire, rather than expecting
students to leave the area!
We welcome you to come join our on-going adventure!
